What makes us courageous

In order for the "return to normality" in the coming months not to become a "business as usual", (big) changes are needed.
  • Everyone knows that. How do we get into the movement? This (also) requires courage. What makes us courageous?

The magazine Zeitschrift für Organisationsentwicklung calls its overview the "courage rocket". It presents two aspects: What I bring to the table as a person:

    - a proactive personality
    - Confidence in one's own abilities
    - Orientation towards one's own values
    - Positive mother experiences

When the personal courageous person acts pro-socially, this brings the organisation forward. This requires on the part of the organisation

    - a noble, value-compatible goal
    - Support and value orientation of the organisation and leadership role models

    are present.

Baaaam, there we have the salad. I currently still see many organisations as wait-and-see despondent. I see leaders who are unwilling or not sufficiently supported. This is often understandable from a human point of view, because every brave person has come out of their comfort zone before. But in the long run, it's not effective!

If you want to read more about how people and organisations can be more courageous, I recommend the article "Out of the comfort zone" by Winfried Berner (ZOE 3/21, in German only).
