What scares you more? A) Those in power, even after half a year of relative calm in the pandemic, don't have a coordinated, structured plan in their pocket for what to do if things get worse. Or B): communication continues to be amateurish?

Draft resolutions that have been pushed through, disputes fought out publicly or behind the scenes and still visible, "what kind of crisis communication is this, please?" asks Zeit Online in a commentary today, quite rightly in my opinion.

We all need security and orientation in order to build trust and go along with it. That's why, in my opinion, both are unfortunately really bad.

The automaker Tesla has disbanded its PR team, they say.

A really, sorry to say so, stupid decision. Press offices are and always have been more than those who pass through questions and coordinate interview requests.

PR people are strategists with the whole picture in mind, they are the critical journalist on the inside, they communicate positions from the outside in and from the inside out.

When a company like Tesla only makes contact with the public through Elon Musk's tweets, that's not authenticity, it's self-promotion.

A dangerous tendency not only there. Every organization is always a sum of parts and regardless of what you think of the car, Tesla is certainly more than Elon Musk.

Everyone knows how important digital transformation is, but the majority of executives doubt its success:

"There is a lack of openness, speed, participation, willingness to experiment and take risks," state 70 percent of managing directors, division heads and shareholders, according to "Der Spiegel", which reports on a study conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering on behalf of Rochus Mummert. It is a qualitative survey of 126 companies.

What a shame, since the crisis has shown that change works. Now is the time to develop a vision for the future, to take the employees with you and to transform the pressure for change into a positive development of the corporate culture.

It can work if you want it to and it makes sense!

But what if I have no clear explanations? What if uncertainty and fear persist, perhaps even grow?

We all have to learn (to endure) that there is no answer to many things (yet).

Those who bear responsibility can invest in explanation. I think an explanation task force, as Cornelia Betsch calls for in this interview, is a good idea (in German language only).

Waste of resources in endless and unproductive meetings, who doesn't know that.

I was therefore very amused to think that this could be intentional - the deliberate sabotage of one country's organizations by another intelligence agency.

In 1944, the CIA's predecessor, the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) left instructions in a manual for simple sabotage for just that: talk as long as possible, insist on postponing decisions or forming a task force, bring in irrelevant topics.... and some more.
